Swim team out to prove its quality
Disharmony in the Australian camp seemed a distant memory as the nation's best swimmers arrived in Perth for the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series at Challenge Stadium, starting tonight.
The 30-strong team assembled at Leighton beach for a team photo with a difference on Wednesday night.
The swimmers posed in their bathers as the sun set over the ocean before changing for a special dinner at Bib and Tucker.
Former teammate Eamon Sullivan, who co-owns the North Fremantle restaurant with fellow sport stars Jamie Dwyer and Steve Hooker, treated the team to a shared banquet of slow-cooked lamb and chicken and a pineapple gratin dessert.
Australia's top performer at the London Olympics, Alicia Coutts, was impressed, tweeting her gratitude.
"Just had the most amazing dinner at @_BibandTucker_ thanks @Eamon_ Sullivan for having us. Highly recommended," she said.
The Super Series, now in its second year, pits the powerful Australian team against rival nations South Africa, Japan, China and Brazil, with $500,000 in prize money on the line.
