Hogg wants to make up for Hussey blast
UPDATE: Scorchers veteran Brad Hogg wants to make amends for the verbal send-off of Melbourne Stars batsman David Hussey that landed him in hot water after yesterday's 20-run loss at the MCG.
Hogg, 42, was fined 20 per cent of his match fee over the verbal exchange linked to Hussey's run-out in the Big Bash encounter.
It capped off a dirty night for both Hogg and the Scorchers, who must now travel to the SCG for an elimination final against the Sydney Sixers in eight days' time.
The spinner conceded 0-36 off three overs in his worst individual performance of the tournament.
Scorchers captain Simon Katich said the verbal spray delivered by Hogg was out of character.
"He's obviously pleaded guilty to the offence," he said.
"It's been dealt with and he's apologetic about it all. He wants to make sure he doesn't do that again because it's uncharacteristic behaviour from Hoggy. I think it's the first time that it's ever happened in his career.
"I think he's dealt with it appropriately."
Katich said the team was bitterly disappointed with their performance.
"We were comprehensively beaten by a team that had seven of its best players out," he said.
"To go there and lose the way we did was very disappointing after we had a really good start."
