Swan Athletic caused the biggest surprise of the WA Amateur Football League finals on Saturday, knocking out last year's runners-up Trinity Aquinas in their A-Grade elimination final.
Swan Athletic, who were in a battle all season to even make the finals, won by 23 points at Trinity's home, Grayden Reserve.
Coached by former West Coast midfielder and last season's Subiaco reserves coach Josh Wooden, Swan Athletic now face perennial finalists North Beach in the first semi-final this Saturday.
North Beach looked to be peaking for the finals but suffered a deflating loss to Wesley Curtin by 41 points in the qualifying final at Curtin's ground.
In B-Grade, Kalamunda continued their dominant season by beating Scarborough by 39 points in the second semi-final, and inaccurate West Coast Cowan pricked North Fremantle's balloon with a 28-point win in the first semi-final at City Beach Oval.WAAFL finals results, August 31
