Ballgirl grateful for Tsonga's compassion

Jo-Wilfred Tsonga won himself many fans around the country last night, but there's one girl who's reserved her spot at the top of the list.

The ballgirl who Tsonga took under his wing and ushered towards the sidelines after he noticed she appeared to be crying.

It was later revealed that she had been feeling unwell and had a slight fever.

“The ball girl involved is at home resting today and we look forward to seeing her back on court in the coming days," a representative from Tennis Australia told 7Sport.com.au.

"She is very grateful to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for the care and concern he showed last night, and to the ballkids team and Tennis Australia staff for their support.”

The crowd roared with delight at the Frenchman's kindness in the middle of his second round battle with young Aussie Omar Jasika.

The ball kids are in safe hands at Melbourne Park.

On Monday, Carla Suarez Navarro noticed a young boy struggling in the oppressive heat and promptly walked him to the bench and got him some help.

We've seen plenty of great moments on court over the past few weeks, with player's sportsmanship delighting crowds around the country. Just last week we saw Simona Halep's grace on court against against Caroline Garcia.

Garcia served a let which the umpire did not call and as Halep's forehand fizzed past, Garcia was left in bewilderment as the chair umpire stayed silent.

Garcia questioned the umpire who admitted she did not hear the let, only for Halep to step in and correct her to replay the point.

During the Hopman Cup, Jack Sock conceded a point to let Lleyton Hewitt know he should challenge a bad call.

These warming moments immediately sparked memories of Tim Smyczek's similar act against Rafael Nadal at the 2015 Australian Open.
