Cats wild about Majok's trail of debts

Perth Wildcats swingman Cameron Tovey has set the tone for another explosive encounter against Gold Coast Blaze this week, accusing former teammate Ater Majok of owing several Cats players money.

Majok spent a turbulent six-week spell in Perth as injury cover for Jesse Wagstaff and signed with Gold Coast on a similar deal after being cut loose by the Wildcats last month.

Tovey said the Sudanese-born centre would be confronted by a number of Wildcats players over unpaid loans when the two teams meet at Challenge Stadium on Sunday.

"Hopefully he can pay back some of his debts, he owes a few of us some money," Tovey said.

"I want my 50 bucks back ... I might have to take some collateral as well.

"I do hope he brings his cheque book because a lot of guys are looking for some money."

Gold Coast officials were unaware of the allegations and refused to comment when contacted by The West Australian last night.

Majok's stint in Perth got off to a bad start when he admitted he would rather be playing for Sydney - his hometown club - before making his debut for the Wildcats.

And he was almost sacked by Wildcats coach Rob Beveridge for skipping a weights session.

Tovey's allegations are the latest chapter in a fierce rivalry between Perth and Gold Coast, which ignited last year when a game at Challenge Stadium ended in an all-in brawl.

Wildcats big man Jeremiah Trueman is expected to recover from a calf muscle injury and a bout of the flu to take his place in the line-up.
