State’s best Surf Life Savers descend on Back Beach

More than 500 people will grace the sand at Back Beach on Sunday when Geraldton Surf Life Saving Club hosts the regional stop in the State Surf Lifesaving Series.

It will be the first time in four years the club has hosted the State series.

GSLSC president Tony Carm­ichael said the club had never been in better condition to host the event.

Three hundred competitors are confirmed for the one-day event, but Carmichael said he expected at least 400 competitors to make the trip to Back Beach.

Moderate winds and medium swells are forecast, so Carmichael is optimistic of a successful carnival.
