Australian international Catherine Cox has been announced as the new captain of West Coast Fever for the 2012 ANZ Championship netball season.
Cox, who left NSW to join Fever last year, heads a four-player leadership group.
Fellow Australian representatives Susan Fuhrmann and Caitlin Bassett were named vice-captains, and defender Andrea Gilmore completes the group.
"It is certainly an honour," Cox said. "Coming from a different State and to be given the job is fantastic.
"I look at this side and it is youthful and enthusiastic. I come here with a 10-year age gap on the next oldest player, so I certainly have the experience.
"I have done the job before so I'm looking forward to it."
Cox was a regular fixture in the Australian team under Norma Plummer, who has taken over the reins at Fever this season.
Plummer said: "Catherine has a wealth of knowledge and certainly will be able to help this younger group that we have with Fever this year."The 2012 season begins in early April. Fever hosts Canterbury and Melbourne at Challenge Stadium in the first two rounds.
