Naomi Fischer-Rasmussen is the sole West Aussie boxer still in with a shot at competing in the London Olympics after she claimed gold in the elite women's 75kg division at the national championships in Hobart today.
Fischer-Rasmussen defeated Kaye Scott 14-13 and now heads to the Women’s World Championships in China in May, where she will strive to book her Olympic berth.
But Kelly McGrath missed out on her chance of possible Games selection after losing 15-7 to the ACT's Bianca Elmir in the 51kg final.
WA can boast two other elite national champions but neither can make the Olympics.
Kaila Riley won gold in the women's 48kg with an 18-17 points win over Katie Skinner (NSW). However, there are only three weight divisions for women at the Olympics - 51kg, 60kg and 75kg.
And in the elite men's competition, Jeremy van Diemen defeated Adrian Andrews (ACT) 15-9 to take gold in the 81kg class.
But Queenslander Damien Hooper, who did not compete in Tasmania, has already sewn up Oceania's one spot at the 81kg division with his fantastic quarterfinal appearance in the world championships last November.
