Trainer Kellie Bravo will bring in a greyhound massage expert as she tries to land a Group 1 hat-trick with Kilty Lad in Saturday night's Sky Racing Perth Cup (530m).
The $1.80 favourite smashed into Octane Show at the start of the third heat at Cannington last Saturday, leaving the two dogs at the back of the field.
The son of 2006 Perth Cup winner Superman was checked again in the back stretch before gaining a rail's run to beat Warabrook Boy by a neck, with Whata Surf and Chuck Monelli dead-heating for third.
Bravo said Kilty Lad had pulled up well from the torrid run but she was bringing in muscle manipulator Robbie Tartaglia to work on him before the $210,000 final.
Kilty Lad was also involved in a tumble in the semifinal of the Adelaide Cup before winning last Thursday week's final over 515m.
"He got cleaned up straight out of the boxes in Adelaide and finished second to get into the final," Bravo said. "He has pulled up well condition-wise but I'd imagine he'd have a bit of soreness.
"Robbie is a friend of ours and has been looking after our dogs for years. We would have liked him to stay in Perth a few days but he is too busy."
Gold Heritage's handler Peter Downing reported the bitch had pulled-up flat yesterday after her sensational win in the second heat.
Gold Heritage went a tick outside the first sectional State record in running 5.57sec., before beating fellow Victorian Ima Hologram by two lengths in 30.35 and landing her seventh straight win.
Downing is hoping to give the Cranbourne Cup winner a trial at Cannington tomorrow.
"To generate a split like that in that heat has pulled a lot out of her," he said. "I will have to see how she recovers over the next day."
Queenslander High Earner gets the chance to become the first greyhound to win two cups after his four-length win in 30.25 from box eight in the fourth heat.
Trainer Kelvyn Greenough has strong claims of a feature double in the Galaxy Final (715m) following the win of So Seductive in the fourth heat in 41.93.
