Leading jockey accused of abuse

Victoria's chief racing steward has accused jockey Danny Nikolic of threatening him and his family and launching a barrage of abuse at him at a race meeting at Seymour on Tuesday.

Steward Terry Bailey told a racing disciplinary hearing that Nikolic had approached him while he was on duty at the race meeting and repeatedly called him a c...

Bailey told the Racing Appeals And Disciplinary Tribunal Nikolic then said: "We've all got families you c... and we know where yours lives c..."

"It shocked me," Bailey told the tribunal.

Bailey is giving evidence at an appeal by Nikolic against the steward's decision to stand him down from riding indefinitely.

Through his lawyer Nikolic denied he made any threat to Bailey.

His lawyer Sandy Robertson QC told the tribunal it was Bailey who threatened his client.

Bailey rejected the allegation.

The hearing is continuing.
