Brilliant three-year-old pacer Sensational Gabby, victorious in 16 of 18 starts, launches a bid for Victorian Group 1 glory when she returns to racing at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
Sensational Gabby will target the $176,000 Breeders' Crown Final for 3YO fillies (2240m) at Melbourne's Melton track on August 19.
"The filly will have three Gloucester Park starts before we go to Melbourne for the Breeders' Crown," trainer Greg Schofield said yesterday. "She did well in a let-up."
Sensational Gabby was a last-start winner of the $150,000 WA Oaks (2506m) on May 11.
The unbeaten Arma Xpress will resume in a two-year-old race over 2100m on Friday.
Arma Xpress, who last raced seven weeks ago, is aimed at Gloucester Park's $125,000 Golden Slipper (2100m) on July 20.
Reinsman Colin Brown has retained the drive on New Zealand import Golden Bomber on Friday, when he aims for his second win in four days. The trotter, trained by Greg and Skye Bond, was reined by Brown in a winning WA debut at Gloucester Park on Monday.
Brown, who has driven 2356 winners, is third to Chris Lewis (4326) and Fred Kersley (2372) on the WA reinsmen's list.
Morgan Woodley has been offered the drive on class pacer David Hercules when he races first-up in Friday's Ray Duffy Memorial Pace (2100m).
The David Thompson-trained gelding, who has won 17 races and earned stakes of $540,000, ran third to Im Themightyquinn in a 2100m heat at the Perth Inter Dominion Championship last February.Thompson said David Hercules was likely to be set for a Melbourne free-for-all in August. His rivals on Friday will include Cromac Johnny, Lombo Navigator and Has The Answers.
