NSW skipper Stephen O'Keefe has won the toss and sent Western Australia in to bat in Wednesday's domestic one day clash at the SCG, which Blues wicketkeeper Brad Haddin has been rested from.
Haddin, who had only recently recovered from a hamstring injury, will miss the game after playing in Tuesday night's Prime Minster's XI victory over the West Indies in Canberra.
The Blues get Shane Watson back from a calf injury, with the Australian vice-captain eager to spend some time in the middle before the Test squad for February's four-Test tour of India due to be named on Thursday.
Watson will open the batting for the Blues in the second innings.
Josh Hazlewood, Gurinder Sandhu, David Dawson, Nic Maddinson and Trent Copeland also come in for the Blues.
Western Australia have also made a raft of changes following a disappointing start to the year, with veteran Marcus North left out of a side that includes Michael Hussey, youngsters Ashton Agar and Joel Paris as well as John Rogers and Liam Davis.
Davis and Shaun Marsh will open the batting for the last-placed Warriors.
Neither side is a realistic chance of making the final, with both sitting on just four competition points - 15 points behind leaders Victoria.
