England face huge battle to save Test

England go into day four of the first Test against India on Sunday facing an uphill battle to save the match despite a second innings unbeaten century stand between skipper Alastair Cook and Nick Compton.

After being asked to follow on a daunting 330 runs behind India's first innings 8(dec)-521 in Ahmedabad, the pair saw England through to stumps at 0-111, with Cook on 74 and debutant Compton on 34.

However, the damage had been done earlier for England when they slumped from an overnight 3-41 to 191 all out, with their renowned trouble against spin highlighted by Ian Bell's brain-snap charge which saw him caught in the deep first ball.
