Law replaces Langer as Australia batting coach

AAP, The West Australian November 14, 2012, 1:54 pm

Former Test batsman and Queensland Sheffield Shield-winning skipper Stuart Law has been appointed Australia's interim batting coach, replacing Justin Langer.

Langer on Wednesday vacated the role on his appointment as Western Australia's new head coach prompting Cricket Australia (CA) to review the position.

CA performance manager Pat Howard announced Law would take the assistant coaching role for the next five Tests this season.

Australia have a three-Test series against Sri Lanka following the series against South Africa, which started with a drawn match at the Gabba this week.

Law played one Test for Australia in 1994-95 and also captained Queensland to their first five Sheffield Shield triumphs, starting in 1995-96.

He has coached with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, before returning to Brisbane this year to take the head role at CA's Centre of Excellence.
