Struggling Test No. 3 Shaun Marsh has been left out of Australia's squad for the upcoming one-day internationals against India and Sri Lanka.
Wicketkeeper Brad Haddin will join Marsh on the sidelines as Victoria's Matthew Wade is rewarded for outstanding form with both bat and gloves at the domestic level.
Queensland batsman Peter Forrest is the surprise inclusion after making selectors sit up and take notice following his move from NSW at the start of the season.
Scorchers sensation Mitch Marsh has been named in the squad but will miss the first two games. National selector John Inverarity said Marsh' progress as an international cricketer would benefit more from first-class cricket than it would from a one-day series.
“Mitch Marsh will be released from the squad for the first two ODIs to allow him to play in the BUPA Sheffield Shield match against Queensland as part of our planning for him to continue to benefit from long-form experience," he said.
Mr Inverarity said while the squad was picked with the aim of winning the series, it would also give selectors a chance to keep an eye on the country's developing stars.
“Peter Forrest, Mitchell Marsh, Matthew Wade, Dan Christian and Clint McKay are in form and will have a chance to either prove or further prove themselves on the international stage," he said.
“Brad Haddin has come off a heavy program of Test cricket – the workload for a wicketkeeper/batsman is rigourous and resting him for the start of the series will refresh him for coming international commitments while also giving us a chance to look at Matt Wade at this level.
“Shaun Marsh is obviously disappointed with his own form in recent weeks and is out of the side but remains in our thinking for the future while he works at state level – as they say, class is permanent but form can be temporary."
The series kicks off on Sunday against India at the MCG.

Interesting that Shaun Marsh is still in the T20 squad. I would've thought the selectors would've given Peter Siddle a go, given his test form. Hope they go well.
