The State Basketball League has put together a strong All Stars team to take on the Perth Wildcats at the WA Basketball Centre this Sunday afternoon.

South West Slammers star Ty Harrelson will lead the team as player-coach, with Perry Lakes Hawks' Charles Nix taking in the lead assistant role and Michael Van Lit (South West) as the second assistant coach.

The team comprises league veterans, some exciting young stars and four imports, and several who have just competed in the SBL finals series.

"This is an exciting opportunity for the SBL to showcase its talent on the big stage. We aimed to put together a team that will not only be exciting for the fans to watch but also be competitive against one of the best teams in Australia," SBL general manager Adam Bowler said.

The SBL Commission restricted the team to four imports to ensure it had a strong Australian contingent.

"We wanted to provide our local players with the opportunity to experience this rare chance to play against an NBL team, which led to the decision of only selecting four imports."

With the Wildcats squad already consisting of numerous SBL stars including Michael Vigor (Perth), Damian Scott (Cockburn), Ben Purser (Perry Lakes) and Tom Jervis (East Perth), the SBL looked for available players who had performed strongly throughout the 2013 SBL season.
