Ben Cousins in police custody

Troubled former Eagles player Ben Cousins is in police custody after an incident in Canning Vale today.

Witnesses said a man believed to be Cousins was seen taking photos on his phone of the Gurdwara Sahib temple at about 11am and drove off erratically before leaving his car in the middle of Shreeve Road.

Sikh Jasvinder Singh said Cousins was taking photos of the temple.

“He was not looking stable,” he said.

CCTV footage showed him running from police.

“There was about eight police cars lined up ... and then once they put somebody in the back of the paddywagon ... they’ve taken off and I can hear the guy screaming and yelling and carrying on in the back of the van,” witness Travis told Seven News.

Cousins has been taken to hospital for an assessment.

Seven News reporter Geof Parry told 6PR Mr Cousins may have tried to break into a house.

It is the third time Mr Cousins has been involved in an incident is the past few weeks.

He was detained on March 15 after breaching security at the SAS base in Swanbourne.

He was taken to hospital after that incident for a health assessment and later discharged.

That incident came three days after he lead police on a low-speed chase from Bicton to Mosman Park.
