Fyfe makes case at Freo training

Star Docker Nat Fyfe sweated it out at Fremantle Oval this morning as he tries to prove he’s over his hamstring niggle.

Fyfe was late onto the track but appeared untroubled while running laps in the heat, 12 days after pulling up with a minor strain to his left hamstring at training.

The midfielder finished the session with a series of shots at goal, including attempts from the 50m arc.

The Dockers had good numbers for today, still over a week out from their first NAB Challenge game against Melbourne.

Garrick Ibbotson and Anthony Morabito completed running duties away from their teammates, while young pair Alex Pearce and Ed Langdon were also on their own running and ballwork program.

Zac Dawson, Aaron Sandilands, Cameron Sutcliffe and Hayden Crozier did not appear on the track, but did emerge from the gym to watch their teammates sweat it out.

Coach Ross Lyon was animated during the session, particularly as they worked on entries into a congested forward 50m.

Lyon warned the players they would be in for more running if the forwards didn’t mark the ball out in front, rather than attempt chest marks.

Chris Mayne continues to be used in defence during simulation training.

Lyon and captain Matthew Pavlich also had a long discussion at the end of the almost two-hour session.

Irish recruit Sean Hurley and fellow rookie Jacob Ballard appeared as their teammates were finishing up to complete some goalkicking practise of their own.
