Veteran AFL Commissioners Bill Kelty and Chris Langford are about to stand down.

Two-times premiership player Jason Ball and Major-General Simone Wilkie, Australia's most senior female army officer, will take their places.

Kelty joined the commission in 1998 and is its longest-serving member.

Langford, the four-times Hawthorn premiership defender, joined the commission a year after Kelty.

Ball was a member of the 1994 West Coast and 2006 Sydney premiership teams and has also been a board member at the Swans.

Major-General Wilkie has served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

She is a member of the Australian Defence Force board of management and the ADF Sports Council, as well as the patron of the ADF Women's Australian Rules Association.

Meanwhile, AFL match review panel chairman Mark Fraser has resigned.

Fraser, the former AFL player and umpire, had held the important role in the tribunal system since 2010.

He has been the public face of the panel and its weekly findings during the season.

The MRP has come under regular criticism for its findings.

The AFL late last month announced widespread changes to how the panel and tribunal operate.

"Fraser ... told (AFL football operations manager Mark) Evans now was best time for him to move out of chairman's role, following recent changes for 2015 season," the league said on Twitter.
