The Western Bulldogs and Greater Western Sydney have reached a sensational trade deal to exchange Dogs midfielder Ryan Griffen and Giants power forward Tom Boyd.

Boyd has signed a contract for at least six years, which will be worth $1 million-a-year after 2015.

Under the trade, the Giants will also receive the Bulldogs pick six to sweeten the loss of their 19-year-old power forward who was the number one draft pick in 2013.

The deal means the Giants will have picks four, six and seven in the national draft this year.

However, there is speculation that they could do a two-for-one top 10 draft pick swap with St Kilda to get their hands on the number one pick in the draft, which would guarantee them access to the nation's best young power forward to replace Boyd.

"I am aware of the Griffin-Boyd trade going through. We are very much open to talking to any club about pick one," Saints list manager Ameet Bains said.

"If GWS want to speak to us, we will have a discussion in due course."
