De Boer sticks with Dockers

Fremantle leadership group member Matt de Boer has re-signed with the club for next season.

The 24-year-old agreed to terms with the Dockers in the past 24 hours that will see him remain at Fremantle at least until the end of the 2015 season.

The one-year contract extension will give De Boer room to move, particularly if he struggles to get game time in a similar vein to this year.

The defensive forward managed only 14 matches in 2014, missing out on the club's qualifying final loss to Sydney at ANZ Stadium.

He was a late inclusion as the substitute for Fremantle's semifinal defeat to Port Adelaide at Patersons Stadium, racking up 13 disposals in less than a half of football in a losing cause.

De Boer has been part of Fremantle's leadership group for the past four seasons.

He led the AFL in tackles inside the forward half last year in a sign of the defensive pressure he brings to the table.
