Eagles go fishing

West Coast Eagles players celebrate the career of retiring Dean Cox with a fishing trip.

Summer has come early for a group of West Coast Eagles players who have been making the most of their off-season and celebrating the career of retiring club legend Dean Cox by going fishing in WA's north.

After a demanding year, which saw the Eagles fall just short of making the finals, the players have started to let their hair down.

Cox was joined by Xavier Ellis, Matt Priddis, Josh Kennedy, Luke Shuey and Matt Rosa in Dampier this week, with the players documenting their adventures on social media.

While Emu Export appeared to be their drink of choice, closer to home Sharrod Wellingham, Mark Hutchings and Chris Masten enjoyed local wines while on a boat trip to Rottnest Island.

Jeremy McGovern and Mark LeCras weren't as fortunate, undergoing post-season surgery last week, but a least had each other for company, according to their Instagram posts, which showed them sharing a hospital room.

As their cross-town Fremantle rivals prepare for their do-or-die clash against Port Adelaide at the weekend, fans continue to scour the web for highly sought-after tickets.

Online ticket site Viagogo said it had recorded more than 5000 searches a minute on Monday for tickets to the game, and the Geelong-North Melbourne clash at the MCG.

"Fremantle fans have proven to be the most enthusiastic of the bunch, with their game outselling the Victorian match at a rate of 3 to 1 and proving to be the most in demand ticket of this finals season," spokesman Alex Levenson said.
