Dockers trio sign new deals
Two Fremantle defenders and one emerging tall have re-signed until the end of 2016, with Lee Spurr, Alex Silvagni and Jack Hannath all committing to new playing deals.
Spurr, who was promoted to the Dockers leadership group for this year, has extended his existing contract due to run out at the end of 2015 for an extra season.
And Silvagni and Hannath have both committed to new two-year contract extensions to guarantee the club's stock of talls as they vie to achieve Fremantle's maiden premiership over coming seasons.
Spurr, 27, has played all 17 matches this season for the Dockers in his second year after being drafted as a rookie selection at the end of 2012.
Silvagni, who was due to come out of contract after this season, has also recommitted in a boost for Fremantle's defence given the increasing vulnerability of Luke McPharlin to injury.
The commitment of 23-year-old Hannath was significant given the young ruckman has played just three matches this season and hails from South Australia. He was also due to come out of contract heading into next year.
Fremantle player management general manager Brad Lloyd said the club was delighted to have the three players extend their contracts.
"Lee has been a great contributor and leader over the past few years since coming off the rookie list," Lloyd said.
"His professionalism and work ethic have ensured he has performed at a high level for the club throughout his time here.
"Alex is a genuine competitor who has had a strong focus on getting the best out of himself since coming to the club via the rookie draft. He is an important member of our playing list.
"Jack developed well in the SANFL post his 18th year and was rewarded with selection in the pre-season draft. He has made a solid contribution in AFL games since his arrival and we look forward to his continued development as a ruckman for the club."
