A fight with a friend at a music festival has cost Carlton’s Mitch Robinson $1000.

The Blues’ utility will donate $1000 to the Salvation Army and spend two months doing community service with Melbourne’s homeless and under-privileged after his unacceptable behaviour at The Big Day Out on Saturday.

Robinson left the festival and informed the club immediately of the incident, with video footage swiftly appearing on Twitter.

Carlton’s general manager of football operations Andrew McKay said Robinson should not have put himself in such a position, even though he had acted initially to prevent his friend’s anti-social behaviour.

“This type of behaviour, no matter what the circumstance, is not acceptable or in line with club policy,” McKay said.

“Mitch is extremely remorseful and has accepted the club’s sanction.”

Teammate and 2012 best and fairest winner Heath Scotland was last week suspended for the Blues’ first two matches of the home and away season against Richmond and Collingwood after pleading guilty to assault last year.
