Fremantle defender Luke McPharlin is set to play out the rest of his career with the port club after signing a two-year contract extension.

McPharlin has played 209 AFL games and formed a key plank in a Dockers defensive unit that ranked second behind premiers Sydney for points conceded.

The 30-year-old East Fremantle product was rewarded for his consistent form with selection in the 2012 All-Australian team.

“Luke had an outstanding season this year,” general manager of player management Brad Lloyd said.

“We are delighted that he’s signed on for the next two seasons.

“He’s a highly respected member of the playing group and integral to our hopes of achieving sustained success.”

McPharlin’s signature is further good news for Fremantle, who secured restricted free agent Danyle Pearce earlier in the week.
