Adelaide defender Sam Shaw has earned the round 21 nomination for the AFL Rising Star award after a stand-out performance against Brisbane.

Shaw, 21, had 22 possessions - including 21 kicks - in the 10-point loss to the Lions on Saturday night.

Shaw battled injury setbacks in his first two seasons in Adelaide, before making his senior debut in round 10 this year.

He has played 10 AFL matches.

Shaw was picked up by the Crows from the Oakleigh Chargers with selection No.45 in the 2009 national draft.

He joins fellow backman Daniel Talia as Adelaide’s two Rising Star nominees this year.
