Busselton Senior High School’s high achievers have been recognised at an awards assembly.
Melissa Hawkett received an $8000 AFS JENESYS scholarship to visit Japan at the event. Representative Barbara Campbell presented Melissa with the Japanese Government funded scholarship which has been awarded to 182 Australians.
Recognised for her “enormous sense of social conscience”, Charlotte Donovan took out the Zonta Club of Dunsborough Outstanding Young Woman of the Year award, while Jett Broughton and Tahlia Crouch received the Country Women’s Association’s Busselton Branch Performance award.
School councillor Chelsie Winchcombe was recognised by the Australian Defence Force for her leadership qualities with the Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork award and Edith Cowan University awarded Shanna Fucile its Year 11 Citizenship award.
Rotary Club of Busselton-Geographe Bay presented “tenacious” Samara Cox with a scholarship for her desire to contribute to others within the school community and Year 9 student Nathan Larsen received the Lions Club of Busselton’s Quiet Achiever award.
Students were also awarded for subject performance. \Little Shop of Horrors cast members, school councillors and captains and house captains also received special mentions at the event.
