WA’S best open-aged surfers are preparing for the third and final event of the Pro Am Series to be held at Rottnest Island this weekend.
Yallingup’s Ryan Wordsworth and Mikaela Greene will head into the final event as the rates leaders in the Open Men’s and Open Women’s divisions.
Wordsworth, who last won an Open Men’s title back in 2006, has found a new spark in his surfing and likes the challenge that many younger competitors are now throwing his way.
“I’m really stoked to be leading going into the final event in Rottnest,” he said.
“I’m confident in my ability and like any other sportsperson would love to have the privilege to represent my State, but this will be a big deciding event.”
Eliza Greene will also compete in the under-18 junior women’s division as well as Dylan and Boston Kavanagh in the open and junior under-16 divisions respectively.
The final event of the HIF Pro Am Series will aim to kick off at Strickland Bay on Saturday at 8am with finals concluding on Sunday.Meanwhile, the next Yallingup Boardriders competition has been rescheduled for June 23 or 24.
