There are few things that really disrupt the touring schedule of a dedicated band, but when the lead singer marries the keyboardist and has a child, that is likely to throw a spanner in the works.
But Tinpan Orange guitarist Jesse Lubitz said the fact his sister and bandmate Emily Lubitz had a child with keyboardist Harry Angus just made the band more selective about the gigs they played.
Fortunately for Warren Blackwood residents, they’ve chosen to get the bub ready for the touring life and play the Nannup Music Festival over the first weekend in March.
‘‘The way that we tour has certainly changed for a little while,’’ Jesse said.
‘‘We’ve made a real effort to only do the shows we want to do, which gives us a little more creative control.’’
When the Manjimup Bridgetown Times spoke to Jesse he was home in Melbourne preparing for the St Jeromes Laneway Festival and looking forward to their upcoming WA tour.
‘‘Music is really respected and appreciated in Western Australia.
We’ve been there four times in the last three years,’’ Jesse said.
‘‘The Nannup festival is beautiful — it really feels like the venues are a part of the town, rather than crowding it.’’
