Bunbury is being neglected by the State Government as money is sent to the north and Busselton, Labor candidate for Bunbury Karen Steele said this week.
“Despite being the regional centre servicing the whole of the South West, Bunbury has not received its fair share of Royalties for Regions or other State Government investment,” Cr Steele said.
"With a limited rate base, it is simply not possible for the City of Bunbury to raise the funds needed to meet the services and infrastructure needs of a city servicing the entire region, with the highest population outside the Perth metropolitan area."
Cr Steele said Busselton, located in Treasurer Troy Buswell’s electorate, fared much better than Bunbury.
“The amount of Government funding that has been spent or committed to Busselton over the past four and a half years has people asking why Bunbury has been neglected,” she said.
Major projects have included the Bunbury Waterfront Project, the Port Access and Bunbury Outer Ring roads, Bunbury Hospital ED upgrades and Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre expansion.'The West Australian' is a trademark of West Australian Newspapers Limited 2013.
