Three people are lucky to escape with minor injuries following a crash at the corner of Busselton Bypass and Causeway Road.
An 18-year-old female driver and the 22-year-old and 16-year-old male passengers were travelling to Augusta around 4am this morning, when the car crashed into the signpost on the centre island of the roundabout.
Busselton acting Senior Sergeant David Wall told the Times the driver did not have a license.
“The female driver said she was unfamiliar with the area and was concentrating on the road signs and did not see the roundabout,” he said.
“They are extremely lucky to escape with only minor abrasions given the position of the car.”
The 16-year-old juvenile was placed in the custody of the Department of Child Protection before being transported back to Perth.
Snr. Sgt Wall said excessive speed may have been a factor in the crash.Initial enquiries into the crash are still ongoing and police still have not laid any charges.
