Rockingham songwriter Darren Guthrie says the launch of his debut EP has fuelled his motivation to release a full album in 2013.
Guthrie released his self-titled EP with a three-show tour at venues in Northbridge, Fremantle and Leederville last month and said early feedback had been positive.
“The shows were really amazing and there was a great turnout,” he said. “A lot of people liked Drawing Apart, which is the first song.
“From what people have said, they really liked it so that was great. I got a lot of comments on the production as well.”
Guthrie said the EP’s success had given him further “inspiration” to release a full album this year.
He has already written four songs and plans on recording a song a month until the album is finished.
“I guess it’s given me a bit of inspiration to see people there and enjoying my music,” he said. “It’s a big thing for me because I love sharing music with other people.
“I’ve started writing songs and I actually wrote three in a night.
“I had a night where I started at about 7pm and just played guitar and wrote music until about four in the morning.”Guthrie hopes to finish the yet-to-be-named album by the middle of the year.
