Brazen thieves steal car from turf club

A car stolen from a secure area of Bunbury Turf Club and used as a getaway car to smash open the members’ gates has caused more than $5000 damage to the club.

The gates were torn from their brick pillars as a means of escape after offenders stole about $1000 of alcohol from the club on Thursday night.

The 4WD was later located on Friday morning in the sand dunes of Maiden’s Park bogged to the axles.

Police have done forensics as the club and on the car.

Three large black tubs used to carry the alcohol were also discovered.
