Backpacker injured in Bridgetown crash (cloned for SW 1350435366)

A 20-year-old backpacker suffered serious head injuries when the car he was travelling in slammed into a bridge near Bridgetown last night.

The man was in the car with three other backpackers when he lost control of the vehicle on Winnejup Road, near Scott-Meares Road, in Winnejup about 7.50pm.

Insp. Mark Bordin said reports from the scene suggested emergency services crews had found the vehicle half on the bridge and half off it.

The injured man was taken to Bridgetown Hospital for treatment.
