Boyanup bushfire reignites

A suspicious bushfire that was burning in Boyanup yesterday has reignited and is out of control.

About 140 hectares has been burnt in the blaze.

FESA has issued a bushfire advice for people between Boyanup West Road, Jilley Road, Brookdale Road, Fowler Road and Kilpatrick Road in the Shire of Capel.

There is currently no threat to lives or homes.

No roads have been closed but motorists have been asked to avoid the area.

The bushfire is contained but not controlled and there is still a lot of smoke in the area.

Forty-five bushfire service firefighters are on the scene as well as State Emergency Service volunteers and FESA personnel.

They are using 13 firefighting appliances to attempt to contain and control the fire.

A wind change is expected this afternoon from easterly to south westerly which means that firefighters will be closely monitoring the north eastern boundary of the fire.

The cause of the fire is suspicious.

People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to police through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
