Performers representing 15 different ethnic groups will take to the stage this weekend as part of the biggest multicultural event of its kind in the region.
The Bunbury Multicultural Group’s Multicultural Night Under the Stars, now in its seventh year, takes place on Saturday and will be headlined by dancers from Pribumi Dance Indonesia and Chinese Lion Dancers from the Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy of Perth.
Bunbury Multicultural Group spokeswoman Shamara Williams said Pribumi Dance Indonesia had performed at many big events in Perth, including the Perth Royal Show and the Joondalup Festival.
“We are excited about introducing Pribumi Dance Indonesia and believe their two dances, one which is a welcome dance performed at large celebrations, will add to the other popular performances, ” she said.
“We know the local Indonesian population will appreciate sharing their culture.”
There will be around 20 performances on the night, represented by performers from countries including Spain, India, Scotland, Ireland, Russia and Ghana.
As well as the entertainment on stage, there will be various food and market stalls and henna painting available. The free family-friendly event starts at 6pm on Saturday at the Graham Bricknell Music Shell.
