Manjimup will showcase Amnesty International Australia’s Faces of Asylum photo exhibition next week in an effort to dispel myths and misconceptions about asylum seekers in Australia.

The exhibition attracted considerable attention in January after Bridgetown Shire Council declined to host the show which aims to humanise the refugee debate by displaying photographs of real people seeking asylum in Australia.

Manjimup Shire Council expressed an interest in hosting the exhibition after the Pottery Restaurant came forward as an alternative Bridgetown venue.

The exhibition is at the Painted Tree Gallery in Northcliffe Visitors’ Centre until Monday and then at Manjimup Library from August 16-August 25.
