The Possum Centre Busselton and Busselton Dunsborough Environment Centre are joining forces to hold a fun day tomorrow to celebrate Conservation Week.
The event will run from 9am to 3pm at Mitchell Park and includes a sausage sizzle, competitions and activities for children, sale items and possum information and displays.
Possum Centre Busselton committee member Anna Duffy said there would be a competition to name two possums which had recently come into their care, “a beautiful adult lady and a gorgeous baby boy”.
Children also have the chance to meet giant Neville the Numbat and a night possum walk is planned for the evening if people are interested.
Mrs Duffy said the centre aimed to preserve the environment of the western ringtail possum, which was considered vulnerable to extinction in 10 years.
“Obviously we’re going to be there trying to tell people about possums and the good and bad and what they can do,” she said.
Conservation Week starts today. For information about the fun day, call Anna Duffy on 0419 919 431.
