A secluded patch of land overlooking one of the South West's most picturesque beaches is set to become home to a lavish multimillion-dollar house despite concerns from the Department of Environment and Conservation.
The four-bedroom home on Cape Clairault Road in Injidup, 10km south of Yallingup, will not be typical of mansions in the area. Forty per cent of the home will be underground and it will be an eco-friendly, self-sufficient "green house".
According to the plans approved by the City of Busselton last night, it will be made from locally sourced natural materials and include a basement level, more than 20 rooms, a green roof terrace and a single second-storey room.
The property has views of the stunning Injidup beach, a popular surf break.
A planning report for council recommends the house be approved, subject to several conditions.
The DEC submission said the building heights and visibility were "very close to the mark".It recommended the upper-storey study be removed to reduce the impact on the Cape to Cape walking track.
