Busselton retirement village Novacare has celebrated the installation of a 108-panel, 21kw solar electricity system on their village recreation hall, the biggest ever installed by Solargain Busselton.
The photovoltaic system is anticipated to cover about 25 per cent of the electricity needs of the village community facilities and adds to the 140 PV systems already installed on Novacare houses.
Novacare Residents Association chairperson Lesley Schrafft said many people in the community were already on credit with their electricity bills and this would help reduce their costs even more.
“It’s an incentive to try and cut the electricity down and…to cut the power bill. It’s a benefit for everyone in the village,” she said.
The partnership between Novacare and Solargain started about three years ago and was a joint venture from residents and management.Solargain sales representative Lars Langer said 89 per cent of homes at Novacare had PV systems installed, which was “probably the highest density of PV systems in the State”.
