A team effort was behind the success of Saturday’s Truffle Kerfuffle Southern Forests Food Festival.
About 2500 foodies flocked to Fonty’s Pool to graze on all manner of delicious fresh goodies and locally-produced wines.
Junior Masterchef judge Anna Gare and Gourmet Farmer host Matthew Evans complimented a line up some of WA’s top chefs who wowed the crowds with entertaining cooking demonstrations.
TK event director Gavin Booth thanked his committee and team of volunteers for their efforts to make the festival a resounding success.
‘‘A massive amount of work goes in behind the scenes to make the event work and it wouldn’t have been achieved without everyone pulling together so I’d like to thank everybody for pitching in,’’ Mr Booth said.
‘‘I want to thank Luke and Sonia Porter, event coordinator Megan Maples and her partner Dan, David Coomer for organising the chefs and the entire Truffle Kerfuffle committee for all their efforts.’’
A tantalising blend of aromas wafted through the main tent where a hefty throng of guests crowded the bustling stalls serving samples of fresh produce and local wines.
Elsewhere chefs such as Foragers’ Sophie Zalokar and Xavier Poupel gave engaging cooking demonstrations against a backdrop of live music.
Off-site truffle hunts proved a popular means of building up the ravishing appetites required to tuck into the mouthwatering meals on offer, while at night several chefs contributed dishes to a gala dinner attended by more than 200 people.
Mr Booth said he was already looking at turning the Truffle Kerfuffle into a twoday event next year but the dust had yet to settle after Saturday.
‘‘The feedback we’ve had has been very positive, in particular from the chefs who were genuinely interested in browsing the stalls, checking out produce and making contacts.
‘‘A winery owner also contacted me to say they had a very busy day, so it’s not just us which benefits — it’s the region as a whole.’’More pictures on our Facebook Page (Manjimup Bridgetown Times)
