Secret Harbour Surf Life Saving Club is calling on Rockingham residents to embrace the summer heat and swap their work pants or school uniforms for boardshorts for Surf Life Saving Australia’s Boardies Day.
Boardies Day is an annual fundraising event on February 22 helping to raise money for lifesaving services throughout Australia.
Secret Harbour Surf Life Saving Club public relations and sponsorship director Carolyn Wilson said the club was calling on the community to take part in Boardies Day to help them raise much-needed money and to have some fun.
“It’s a day to celebrate summer, our beaches, our lifestyle and our volunteer lifesavers that give up their time to protect us all at the beach,” she said.
Mrs Wilson said money raised would go towards buying and maintaining rescue gear and equipment, Surf Lifesaver training, first aid supplies and surf safety community education.
“We need the money, basically to continue to save lives,” she said.
“We are also trying to raise money for new surf equipment for the future surf club and to support its members and the community.
“Help us support you, by you supporting us.”
Mrs Wilson said anyone could get involved in the day, young or old, individual or group, school or business.
