A house fire has caused significant damage to a Broadwater home.
Close to 20 firefighters from Busselton and Dunsborough Fire and Rescue were called out to Cottesloe Road around 1.50pm yesterday.
Busselton captain Rob Papalia said the majority of the house was engulfed when fire crews responded, but were able to stop the blaze from spreading to adjoining properties.
Firefighters took about 2 hours to extinguish the blaze which caused around $600,000 worth of damage.
Mr Papalia said the homeowner had not been home at the time, but a dog which had been on property at the time was taken to a vet as a precaution.
Fire investigation officers are working to determine the cause of the fire, but believe an electrical fault from the kitchen could be the origin.
