The South West is in the middle of one of the wettest Decembers on record following one in 100-year rainfall numbers last week.
Yourdamung Lake bore the brunt of the deluge with a total of 210.8mm of rain recorded in the 24 hours to 9am on Thursday while Collie came in second with 157.2mm in the same time period.
Bunbury recorded 72.4mm, the city’s wettest December day on record and the wettest overall day since June 2003.
The city’s average December rainfall is 15.8mm, a mark reached just a few hours into Wednesday.
“Bunbury has already had 121.2mm of rain this month, making it the city’s wettest December on record,” Bureau of Meteorology climate and weather information officer John Relf said.
“It’s already the city’s third-wettest summer on record and we’re not even three weeks into it.”
