The WA Government says sea containers are the answer to major bushfire management problems.
Environment Minister Bill Marmion revealed 12 customfitted sea containers would serve as mobile incident control centres for major bushfires throughout the South West and metropolitan areas.
The Government previously hired similar containers up to 12 times a year and authorities were forced to lug around heavy equipment which is installed in the now permanent mobile rooms, Mr Marmion said.
“Incident control teams used to operate in difficult locations like on the bonnet of vehicles, which was always a challenge, so this will ensure they have the tools they need such as whiteboards, USB ports for quick information transfer and desk space,” he said.
The mobile offices are available to DEC, Department of Fire and Emergency Services and local government for large-scale bushfires managed by multiple agencies.
