The Secret Harbour Dockers made light work of what was expected to be a tough match against Yanchep in last weekend’s WA Metropolitan Football League fixture.
The top-of-the-table Dockers signalled their intentions early, kicking 6.9 to quarter-time.
They kicked further ahead as the match progressed before completing a 175-point win, 28.20 (188) to 2.1 (13).
Underlining the Dockers’ dominance was the fact Yanchep did not have a scoring shot until the third term. Ryan Nye was the chief destroyer with seven majors, while Secret Harbour were well served by Jared Ismail, Darryl Beechey, Luke Mahoney, Steve Nunn and Mick Giorgio.
Ryan Casson also chipped in with five goals.
The Dockers take on third-placed Warwick-Greenwood this weekend ahead of a much-anticipated rematch against Kwinana the following week.
Meanwhile, Secret Harbour caused the season’s biggest upset to date with a 10-goal win over Midland in the reserves fixture. Gary Henley booted seven straight goals to put the exclamation mark on an impressive 17.15 (117) to 7.10 (52) victory.
Cameron Reyne was best on ground, ahead of Ian McCutcheon, Matt Copper and Brett Russell.
Lloyd Cable was also a standout, despite taking the field with a broken jaw. This weekend’s reserves match gets under way at Rhonda Scarrot Reserve from 4pm with league to follow at 6pm.
