Swimmers from Kwinana Swimming Club are set to take on WA’s best age and open swimmers when they do battle at this year’s Swimming WA State Open and Age LC Championships at Challenge Stadium this week.
The State’s ultimate swimming event will feature more than 700 athletes and over 3000 individual entries across the five days, with each night of the finals being broadcast via live streaming.
WA’s elite, including Blair Evans and Travis Nederpelt, will face plenty of competition from the young stars from Kwinana Swimming Club, including Steven Scott, Nicole Scott, Alexia De Klerk, Mikaylah Jones, Taku Korogi, Mathew Van Den Landenberg, Ciara Moynihan and James Bolton.
With the Olympic trials just two months away, Australian superstars Geoff Huegill and Eamon Sullivan, as well as a host of international stars from Japan and Sweden, will also be taking part in what will be one of the most fiercely contested State Championships in recent years.Kwinana Swimming Club coach Taku Korogi said the club’s young swimmers had been training well over the holiday break and were looking forward to going head to head with some of the best in the State.
