A Vietnam War medal was one of hundreds of items recovered by Peel District Crime Team during a property search in Rockingham last week.
Det-Sen. Sgt Brett Ranford said motorcycle clothing, a pearl necklace, spear gun and costume jewellery were among the array of items seized during the search.
A 21-year-old Warnbro man was charged with a string of burglary and stealing offences in relation to the recovered items.
Det-Sen. Sgt Ranford said the search delivered a great result and the task now was to return the property to its owners.
“Some of the stuff we’ve identified where it’s come from and there’s other stuff we can’t trace back,” he said.
Det-Sen. Sgt Ranford said burglars were being opportunistic, striking when people were away from their homes, and while doors and windows were open.
“We just need to send out that reminder to keep your doors locked at all times, even if you’re working in the back garden, not to leave the front door wide open because they will look for your handbag, your keys or valuable items lying around,” he said.
“When they’re left in open view on kitchen counters and the back door is open, the risk is there that they will walk in.”Report suspicious activity to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
