KWINANA Marketplace Lottery Centre and News has given one person a $1.4 million kick-start to the new year after it was one of four centres across WA to sell a Division 1 winning ticket.
The four WA Lotto players shared Saturday night’s $30 million Division 1 Megadraw prize pool with 21 others from around the nation.
Kwinana Marketplace Lottery Centre and News co-owner Gaye Mayhew said the newsagency was lucky to have a few big wins over the years.
“Over the space of a few years we always manage to get a few,” she said.
“They are always good because they bring more people in.”
Mrs Mayhew and her husband Terry, and business partner Peter Anderson, took over the newsagency 13 years ago.
“We were always in the food industry but we decided we wanted a change and had a look around at different newsagencies and decided that Kwinana was the best option because we could build it up,” she said.
After more than a decade in the industry Mrs Mayhew said she loved the job because it brought happiness to others.
“I like to see the smiles on people’s faces when they win,” she said. The other lucky three tickets were sold in Leda, Riverton and East Victoria Park.
