Yet another great white shark has been spotted in Cockburn Sound this morning
The Department of Fisheries advised the shark was seen circling a boat near the D9 dredge wreck - the popular fishing spot where a 3.5m shark attacked the outboard motor of a 4m aluminium boat about 8.30am yesterday.
Two fishermen, Brad Harrison and Ben Croft, told of how they were fishing for snapper when the shark approached and left deep scratches in their boat's motor as it tried to get at the boat's bait dispenser.
The Department last week warned water users in Cockburn and Warnbro to be extra cautious because large sharks were attracted to the Sounds at this time of year to feed on schools of spawning snapper and small bronze whaler sharks.
There were several sharks spotted around WA yesterday, with sightings also at Mandurah, Margaret River, Esperance and Lancelin. There were two sightings in Cockburn Sound yesterday and two on Sunday.
